DATE FORMAT

I have a formula that will return latest date if cells match criteria, however because the column that contains the formula is formatted as (Date), if criteria does not match, 1/0/1900 is being returned rather than specified text in formula. (Hope I explained well enough) This is the formula.


MAX(IF(($D:$D=$B2)*($H:$H=$G2),$E:$E,"X"))

MAX Date(IF((Customer=Customer)*(City=City), Latest Billing Date,"X" )) returning "X" if no billing date- "X" is not being returned, 1/0/1900 is. Thank you for your help!!

=IFERROR(1/(1/MAX(IF(($D:$D=$B2)*($H:$H=$G2),$E:$E,"X"))),"X")
