I have a large data base where the date column is posted as 19950312 which means March 3, 1995. I cannot figure out how to format the cells for excel to read that as that date. any suggestions? I have tried to use the custom format function to no avail.

Save as CSV to remove all leading and trailing spaces. It is faster than using TRIM().
