New Vista computer using Excel XP I cannot format "date"
When I format the cell to: mm/dd/yyyy and type 07182008 I get ######### (negative date are displayed as #############)
Any solution?

Excel Facts

Does the VLOOKUP table have to be sorted?
No! when you are using an exact match, the VLOOKUP table can be in any order. Best-selling items at the top is actually the best.
It doesn't have to do with the version of Excel or the version of windows.

07182008 must be entered as a valid date format,

7-18-2008
July 18, 2008
7/18/2008

etc.

Any of these will then display as 07/18/2008

You would have to type
07/18/2008

07182008 is just a number to excel, 7 Million,182 thousand, 8
