I would like to know how I can format a cell so that the date will appear as follows.

OCT 23 2002 or
NOV 5 2002 0r even
Dec 25 2002

The choice of formating from the catagory / date drop down box does not include the above choice.

Thanking You in Advance: ....... Gene Gould OD

You need to create a custom format that looks like this:
"mmm d yyyy"
1.Select the cells containing your dates
2.Format / Cells / Number tab / Date category
3.Select a date format from the list that is closest to the one you want
4.Select Custom from the category list
5.Edit the format in the "Type" box to the above
6.Click Ok

Search Excel Help for "creating custom formats" to get more info on this topic.

Custom date formats can be created using any of the the codes listed in the Excel Help topic for "About number format codes for dates and times".
