date formatting shortcut required

hi,
this is only a really small thing, but itd save me LOADS of time..
I have a spreadsheet where I have to put in a lot of dates, the column is date formatted but as far as I can see I still have to at least put the dashes in so 5/3/13 gets reformatted to 05/03/2013, which is fine. What i'd like to know is if there is a way I could just type in 5313, or even better just 53 and have the excel reformat that to 05/03/2013

I have clicked around and tried to find the answer.. but it is evading me, I have ti enter a lot of dates very quickly, so it'd be more helpful than it sounds.
