Date formula to show months between

Hello all! I am hoping to insert a formula into my table that will provide me with how many months are in between two dates. Let me explain that DATEDIF is not giving me what i really want. Here is an example of my data:

ColumnA Column B Column C Column D

1/7/14 24 bill This is where I would like to say that A1 is ZERO MONTHS past (in same month as we are now)

12/31/13 12 Bob This is where I would like to say that a2 is ONE month past (last month)


Any ideas? I really appreciate it
