Date Manipulation

Hello all,

I have been turning this around in my head for a while and cannot find a way to do this. Hopefully someone can help. Basically, in A1 I have a date: 01/01/05. How can I get B1 to read 0101D?

I want to somehow read the month and day of the date and add a D to it. Possible?

Either custom format as:

MMDD"D"

Or use a formula:

=TEXT(A1,"MMDD")&"D"

=TEXT(A1, "MMDD") & "D"

Click on your date

Then click Format (From your toolbar) and then Cells.

In the first tab theres a box called category click custom

then in the field called type (its to the right) put in the below and choose OK

ddmm"D"

Geez,

I was working around with text but just couldn't get it to work. Thank you all so much for your help and quick response. It works great! This group rocks.
