I have 5000 dates in column “A” in the format “23/05/2010” – in column “B” I have told the cells to = A and then custom formatted the cells so as the date is only showing as MONDAY or TUESDAY etc.
Basically I want to pivot table to see which day of the week is most popular
What I am unable to do is copy column “B” and paste special into column “C” so as I get cells formatted as text with on name of days of the week, all I am getting is stuff like 40321.
Any Ideas?

Excel Facts

Shade all formula cells
To shade all formula cells: Home, Find & Select, Formulas to select all formulas. Then apply a light fill color.
Try in column B

=TEXT(A1,"dddd")

You should be able to build a pivot from that.
