Date to text conversion

I am stumped. How do I convert a mm/dd/yyyy date field to mmddyyyy and retain the 2 character month and date? I ahve broken the date apart into month, date, and year, but when I concatenate the fields, I can't retain the 2 place month and date. there must be an easier way.

Is this what you want?

=TEXT(A1,"mm/dd")

where A1 contains your date
