Spreadsheet A has a date column mm/dd/yyyy (custom format). I need to copy/paste only the year into Spreadsheet B which is a template with locked formulas. To calculate correctly the template requires that the year only be pasted. If paste the current mm/dd/yyyy dates are pasted I get date serial numbers.

I've tried several things including formatting and moving the text to column. Solution anyone?

Excel Facts

Easy bullets in Excel
If you have a numeric keypad, press Alt+7 on numeric keypad to type a bullet in Excel.
If you can not change the formulas in Spreadsheet B, then
next to your dates, put something like =YEAR(A1) and copy down.
Copy this column and Paste Special Values to your other sheet.

That works. Thanks SO MUCH for the quick response. I would have stubbornly continued to try to figure it out because I need to complete the project!
