How can I show the year in column M from a complete date in column L?

Would formating the cell to custom "yyyy" or "yy" work for ya? With cell M1 = L1 then just copy down.

Maybe I'm doing it wrong, but that dosen't work either....

=year(L1) places in the cells the number of years (its a number not the entire date)
