how can I enter a date in cell A1 and cell B1 will return the day of the week?

Excel Facts

Highlight Duplicates
Home, Conditional Formatting, Highlight Cells, Duplicate records, OK to add pink formatting to any duplicates in selected range.
Or Try this . .

In cell A1 enter the date.

In cell b1 enter =weekday(A1)

In cell C1 enter

Code:
=CHOOSE(b1,"Sunday","Monday","Tuesday","Wednesday","Thursday","Friday","Saturday")

Of course, facethegod had a much more practical suggestion :)
