I am trying to calculate the number of days between two dates - I had created a formula in one version of excel but now can't get this to work in an older version of excel

=(D6/365)*(YEARFRAC($B$1,C6)/YEARFRAC(B6,C6)*365)

Basically I am trying to work out how much of a cost to prepay or accrue depending on month end date (B1) for a cost (D6) that covers a period of B6 to C6

I presume the YEARFRAC is not compatible with my older excel - any suggestions?

Thanks

Welcome to the Board.

If you are using Excel 2007 the YEARFRAC function is built in. But in earlier versions it is in the Analysis ToolPak, which must be installed.

The older excel that I need to use it in is at work - i.e. I am using excel on a network - is it easy to install that pack? Do I have to purchase it?

Thanks
