I want to take the date to the left and minus 3 months; I used the cell ref. - 90 (3 months @ 30 days per mo.) - this worked for the month but not the day; e.g. the days are off by 1 or so.

How can I calculate the date to 3 months prior - but keep the current day the same ??

tks

What about when the date doesn't have a matching day in that month 3 months prior? May 30th for example.

Something like:

=EDATE(A1,-3)

should work.

Richard

PS Which will default to end of month if the calculated date does not include the relevant day, as Glenn pointed out

That's the one I use Richard, but some people want strange things to happen when the day doesn't exist in the target month.

Oh, must say that the Analysis Toolpak must be ticked in the Add-Ins list for Edate to work.

You probably haven't got the Analysis Toolpak installed - as Glenn said, you need to check it off in Tools>Add-Ins and check it in the list.
