DAYS360 start date blank error

I am using the DAYS360 formual where the start date is user entered and the end date is the TODAY formual. My problem:

When the start date is an empty cell the DAYS360 formual shows a huge number. Any ideas?

Formula I used:
=DAYS360(user entry, TODAY())


Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Apologies if this has already been aswered somewhere, I didn't see anything when looking.
