Deleting part of cell data

Hello again,

Out of this data:

(201) 868-9500 6.65 mile

I would like to delete the "6.65 mile"

so that the data reads " (201) 868-9500"

Excel Facts

Why does 9 mean SUM in SUBTOTAL?
It is because Sum is the 9th alphabetically in Average, Count, CountA, Max, Min, Product, StDev.S, StDev.P, Sum, VAR.S, VAR.P.
In general, do your data always begin with a phone number (including area code in parentheses) and you want to extract only the phone number?

If you are going to assume the first 14 characters are uniformly the telephone number, then I would think the following would be a more direct solution...

=LEFT(A1,14)

Definitely correct! I guess I saw this, and got that idea in my mind:

Hello again,
