Hi all, first timer here.
I am running some hockey pools and I was wondering if there was some sort of formula where I can find out quickly how many points 2nd place is behind first, how many points 3rd place is behind second place...

Here is the table I have been filling in for our hockey pool it is a running total. The information in bold are the nights of the week... Oct 12, 13th 14th, etc....

WEEK 1
OOOOOO
121314151617
BALLS324961839099
BEER93333555960
CARM73132545561
LINE52022384144
LOVE1035516897104
PEST51927495666
PUCK132529525263
ROAD152223485470

<tbody>
</tbody>

As you can see, ROAD earned 15 points on the first night and then another 7 on the second night for a total of 22.

I can run the calculation to see how many points all the teams are behind the leader BALLS. Then the results change with LOVE takes the lead on Oct 16th.

BALLS0000-7-5
BEER-23-16-28-28-38-44
CARM-25-18-29-29-42-43
LINE-27-29-39-45-56-60
LOVE-22-14-10-1500
PEST-27-30-34-34-41-38
PUCK-19-24-32-31-45-41
ROAD-17-27-38-35-43-34

<tbody>
</tbody>

The one that I can't figure out so that I wouldn't have to do it manually is how many points the 2nd place team is behind first, and how many points 3rd is behind 2nd, and how many points 4th is behind 3rd....

The table would look something like this after the calculation is run - but without me having to do all the work.

BALLS0000-7-5
BEER-1-2-18-13-12-1
CARM-2-2-1-1-1-2
LINE-2-3-1-10-11-24
LOVE-3-14-10-1500
PEST-2-1-1-3-3-4
PUCK-2-6-3-2-2-3
ROAD-17-3-4-1-1-29

<tbody>
</tbody>

Is this possible to do while still keeping the teams in alphabetical order? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks so much
Islandbrian

Easy bullets in Excel
If you have a numeric keypad, press Alt+7 on numeric keypad to type a bullet in Excel.
I'd create a new table. In the top left cell (I'll assume it's B2 on the main table) use the formula:

=IF(B2=MAX(B2:B20),B2,MAX(B2:B20)-B2)

Autofill the rest.
