Difference .value .text

If I want to know what is in a cell, does it matter whether I ask for .value or if I ask for .text. What is the difference?

What is the last column in Excel?
Excel columns run from A to Z, AA to AZ, AAA to XFD. The last column is XFD.
Sort by date Sort by votes
Value returns the value.

Text returns what is displayed in the cell. If the cell is hidden it will return nothing.

and if the cell isn't hidden, is it then any difference between the two?
