difficult formula

I have a hard formula that i want to construct in excel and i need help...

I have made up an equation in one cell (A1) that is the average of 4 other cells. What I need, is this answer (A1) to then equal a "Pass" in another cell dependng on the if the answer in A1 is between values x (cell B1) and y (cell B2); B1(x) < A1 > B2.

Also if A1 is not between these values (x and y) i need it to say "Fail".

Please help!

Try...

=IF(AND(A1>=B1,A1<=B2),"Pass","Fail")

This is an all inclusive test. Otherwise, remove the = sign(s) where appropriate.
