Display date vrs REAL Date

I transferred some data from Crystal Reports to EXCEL.

The date transferred appears as "Dec-2021" which is PERFECT and what I want...HOWEVER....this is just formatting. The REAL (if you click on it and look at the input line) date is "12/15/2021 10:37:45 AM". The formula I hve wants to see specifically "Dec-2021" not the other nonsense. How can I convert 12/15/2021 10:37:45 AM to be truly "Dec-2021"

If the date value is in cell A1, this formula should return what you want:

=TEXT(A1,"mmm-yyyy")
