Can anyone please tell me an excel formula that will dislpay the current day eg. monday, tuesday etc?!?!?

Custom format your cell dddd to display the DAy of the week for a date entered

Also of use may be the today function.
=today()
in a cell will always returns today's date.

So, as suggested, you could just put the formula in a cell and custom format it or use it in Lenze's formula directly:
=text(today(),"dddd")
