I saw this on a coworkers computer, and was wondering if anybody has any idea what it is? from Googling on it and skimming the code, it looks like it has something to do with workbook saves. I have a feeling it might be some old patch for dealing with Excel v8.0 (1997 version?), but I really don't know.

I do know that Excel on her computer does some really funny things once in a while -- formulas on a spreadsheet all evaluate to 0, task manager claims 1 instance of excel running, but if you close out the visible instance there's still an invisible instance (with no workbook in it).

I was kinda wondering if idmxl8.xla had something to do with this, or if I'm turning a coincidence into causality.

I skimmed through it previously; the 2003 date of the (first) post seemed to be a pretty common year stamp for everything I saw. Unfortunately, the link on the 2008 post was dead. Apparently, the .xla doesn't have a unistall routine built in and it hijacks the file - save as menu (which seems to be the common theme to all the old posts), so I'm thinking I won't bother with this until the user upgrades to XL2007.

Basically, I was hoping one of the old-timers on this board would have had a memorable experience with this doohicky and would be able to say what it was supposed to do.

Thanks anyway Vog.
