Does connecting Excel to an external Access Table Database reduces Excel file size and increases performances?

I need to create a dashboard in Excel with a data set that will increase with time. As the dataset gets bigger the excel file will increase and the speed will slow down. So instead of storing the dataset in the Excel file, we store it on a table in Access and then create a connection. Would this reduce the excel file size and thus increase speed and performance?

What is the last column in Excel?
Excel columns run from A to Z, AA to AZ, AAA to XFD. The last column is XFD.

It depends. If you query for a small resultset, the gains may be worth it. If you store the resultset in power pivot only, you can compress the data even more. If you choose to display all the data in a worksheet, it is not worth the effort.
