question about Pivot Tables. once I've set up a pivot table using a spreadsheet (worksheet) will it automatically update when new data is entered into the worksheet, or do i have to re create the table with the new data each time?

You will only have to refresh the pivot when your worksheet is updated

when you say refresh, does that mean I have to re select the fields, etc, etc, and create the table again? not like having a function in a cell that automatically updates the contents?

nope, right-click on the pivot and click Refresh
