dos shell closing too quickly

I am using an Excel macro to run an executable in a DOS shell
retval = Shell("c:\my_program", 1)

The program takes a minute or so to process the data, but when running the program from Excel, the DOS window closes immediately.

How do I keep this DOS window open long enough for the program to complete? Thanks for any help.

You may be able to use a WSH shell to execute your program.
