How can i download the room schedule from a set of blueprints that were emailed to me? thank you

Excel Facts

Which lookup functions find a value equal or greater than the lookup value?
MATCH uses -1 to find larger value (lookup table must be sorted ZA). XLOOKUP uses 1 to find values greater and does not need to be sorted.
Im not sure how to answer that. The blue prints are a digital form of a hard copy set of prints. I tried to copy, paste to MS Word, save as an .odt(?) file extension then open in Excel knowing i would have to select the delimited spacing options.
If i find something want in excel on the web i have been able to bring it into wordpad, save it as .csv extension and have no problem getting it in excel.
\That is why i tried the copy, paste and save method. Thanks

If they were emailed to you, then they were in the form of a file attachment, no? If that's the case, what's the file extension of the file? What software was used to produce it? If you double-click it, what software does Windows start up to try to open it?

I apologize for the late response. I have been looking into this matter and forget that i owed you an answer. Yes the file format is a pdf.

If the information you want is in the PDF as text, you may be able to 'select all' then paste it directly into a worksheet. You'll probably have some tidying up to do afterwards though.

OTOH if the PDF was produced by scanning a piece of paper which I think is what you're suggesting, it's not going to be so easy. You might be able to run it through an OCR (optical character recognition) program but you'd have to ask yourself whether it would actually be quicker and easier just to retype the information than it would be to source, install and run an OCR program.

(I'm assuming you can't lay your hands on the original document.)

Yes i believe it was "was produced by scanning a piece of paper" and i probably can't get my hands on the origional piece of paper, however i haven't yet called the architect (which as you may know is taboo, not really concerned though). The room schedule from the blueprints in this job has about 550 signs and room numbers, so i can type them.....
