Downloading to Excel from Database

I downloaded two databases (different sources) but the names are spelled the same. I trying a vlookup to match each name. The problem I'm having is that after each name there are spaces. The spaces differ from each file therefore, I cannot match the names.
How can I do vlookup or delete the spaces after each name?
