Drawing - Line disappears

In Excel 2003, one of my users uses the drawing tool to draw a line on a sheet.
1. The line disappears, though the axis points remain visible.
2. When you right click and choose "Format Auto Shape," the color drop-down box appears blank. You can go inside and manually change to a color and the line then shows up on the sheet. But,
3. when you scroll down the sheet so that the area where you put the line is out of view, and then scroll back up, the line is completely gone - axis points and all.

I ran detect and repair, upgraded to Office SP2, and nothing seems to correct this. Is this a wayward setting? Would appreciate an answer. I've searched the web for half a day trying to figure it out. My guess is a print driver on his system may be at fault. Thanks in advance

Welll, it is definitely not the way it is supposed to work.

I'd suggest you try the same thing on one or two other computers in your office. If they work as expected, then I'd say to re-install the one machine.

If the other two demonstrate the same issue, then I don't know what to suggest.
