Drop Down List Arrow flashes then disappears

I'm using Excel 2013. I've created 3 Drop Down Lists. Sometimes you click on the cell the down arrow appears, and it works fine and you're able to make a selection. But MOST OF THE TIME you click on the cell with the drop down list, and the arrow flashes once, then disappears. This happens on all 12 spreadsheets (Jan-Dec). How can I correct this, so that every time you click on the cell, the arrow appears, stays, and a selection can be made? Thanks!

Are you using data validation? Use a combo box instead or check if show all objects is checked in advanced options. I read it here:
