I have a work book that contains a form on sheet 1 and a set of data criteria on sheet 2. The data has two columns, the first column is the information I want to see on the drop down and the second column has the information I want have printed on the form. So the question I have how can I set up the cells to ensure that I return the stuff from the 2nd column even though the information the people will see is in the first?

Excel Facts

How to fill five years of quarters?
Type 1Q-2023 in a cell. Grab the fill handle and drag down or right. After 4Q-2023, Excel will jump to 1Q-2024. Dash can be any character.
Perhaps by using a VLOOKUP formula (see Excel's built in help feature for details and examples of this function)?

I have that working where the results show up in a different cell, however I need this in the same cell as the drop down.
i.e:

Data Information
User View 1
UV1
User View 2
UV2
User View 3
UV3

<tbody>
</tbody>

In cell A1 I want a drop down that shows "User View 1" but when the information is displayed in the column it shows "UV1" although this is not something the users see.
Perhaps by using a VLOOKUP formula (see Excel's built in help feature for details and examples of this function)?

I am not quite sure I follow. It looks like your question may have changed some since your original question.
Can you explain in more detail? Is this drop-down you are using through Data Validation, or through some VBA code?
Why do you want to see the one but save the other?
If we can understand the process and where you want to go (and why), we might be able to come up with a better solution for you.

What I am trying to do is create a spreadsheet where the end user will have a choice of a list of products they want to request, when they print the form to be routed we only need to see the product code, not the full description of the product, so that is what I need to be printed. Yes this id being done through Data Validation.

A few thoughts...

One way it to have the form that is printed be separate/different from where they are entering the data. Then you could use VLOOKUP.

Or, you could have a hidden column that does the VLOOKUP, and create a Print button they click, and have the VBA code attached do the following:
- hide the product description column
- unhide the product code column
- print
- unhide the product description column
- rehide the product code column
