I wanted to put a drop down list in a bunch of cells and then if the choice is not in the drop down list, allow the value to be typed into the cell (not added to the drop down list) but the lists I put in don't allow for any entry other then what is in the drop down choices.

I was using validation because my searching for an answer only came back with that option.

Any ideas?

Thanks again!!

Show numbers in thousands?
Use a custom number format of #,##0,K. Each comma after the final 0 will divide the displayed number by another thousand

If you are using the Data Validation in cell dropdown?

On the "Error Alert" Tab remove the check from "Show Alert" line. It will now let you add anything you want and still use the dropdown if you want!
