I have a list with numbers in the first column and a description in the 2nd column. I use this value to enter info in a 3rd cell.

example: I chose from my list: 1 = John and Roy, 2 = Roy and Mary , 3 = Mary and Irene.
Then in cell 2 it automatically enters John and Roy, etc.

My problem is only the number shows up in the drop down box. So if I don't remember that 1 = John and Roy and I have to look at a printed sheet to find that value.

I would like to be able to see the "description" when I'm entering the number, but only have the number entered in the cell.

Hopefully this makes sense.

I am using Excel 2003
