List is one sheet of book and drop down list is repeated on 15 lines of another sheet. The purpose is to create a menu for food service biz, by selecting menu items from a drop down list. The menu will have 15 or more items, so the drop down list will need to be repeated 15+ times

Excel Facts

Does the VLOOKUP table have to be sorted?
No! when you are using an exact match, the VLOOKUP table can be in any order. Best-selling items at the top is actually the best.

Judd,

If it's a drop down list via Data Validation, then
highlight your menu items in say column A1:A15 and name the range, either by using the small window above column A or by using Insert/Name/Define.

In the other worksheet, highlight the cells you want the list to display, the go to Data/Validation/ in the allow window, select list and in the source window enter =menu(or whatever you named your list), click OK

Judd PM'd me with this question:

But - what if I want to have a drop down list referring to more that one column in the other sheet. Trying the above steps will not work with multiple columns.

Anyone have any other ideas?

Are you trying to have dropdown list to bring items from one column and prices from another? If so use your drop down list to pick the item and Lookup or Vlookup to add the price based on the choice from your dropdown list
