Hi

Drop down lists and amount of characters shown within the list when it is activated.
I’m sure this must be a common problem.

I have searched the FAQ but could not find any info relating to my problem.

Example
I have a validated a dropdown to activate in say a1 to a5

The list of information used to populate this is located d1:d15

Typical contents of the list in d1 to d15 are 30 characters long including spaces.

It is desirable that column a is only set to 10 points wide .

When any cell from a1 to a5 is selected only part of the items description (12 characters approx.) is shown within the drop down.

Is it possible to change this so that the full length of the text can be read, without just increasing the column width to accommodate it.

(my company only has office 97)

Any help or soultion will be appreciated
Regards
Robert

Excel Facts

How to total the visible cells?
From the first blank cell below a filtered data set, press Alt+=. Instead of SUM, you will get SUBTOTAL(9,)
Many thanks for your reply, I found the information very user friendly and valuable.
I have used the code within my sheet & it is works a treat.
