Hi folks, I am trying to create a drop down list but the information I need for the list is on a different page from the drop down box... I have tried Data/Validation/List/Source.. But it wont let me go to the other page to get to the source of the list... Is there an easy way around this?

Thanks in advance

Serge.

Excel Facts

Which lookup functions find a value equal or greater than the lookup value?
MATCH uses -1 to find larger value (lookup table must be sorted ZA). XLOOKUP uses 1 to find values greater and does not need to be sorted.
Use a named range for the list of data that's on the other page...

Example..

Sheet1 A1:A10 is your list of data.
Sheet2 A1 is where you want the dropdown using Sheet1A1:A10...

In Sheet1, Highlight A1:A10, Click Insert - Name - Define
Give it a name like MyData
Click Add

On Sheet2, A1, click Data - Validation
List
Source
=MyData

Hope this helps.

Hi Serge

Either name the range that you wish to use as the list source in which case you set the list as:

=myName

or use Indirect:

=INDIRECT("'Sheet2'!A1:A10")
