I am trying to create a form for my office. In the form I need to create a drop down list with all of my co-works names. I am using Excel 2004 and I do not want to have a source for this list, just the list with the names. Is there a way to create this list without having to validate the cell? If so, may you please give me step by step instruction? Thank you!

Excel Facts

Will the fill handle fill 1, 2, 3?
Yes! Type 1 in a cell. Hold down Ctrl while you drag the fill handle.
Welcome to the Board!

In the Data Validation List Source box you can hard enter the names, but that's a hassle to change.

The easiest thing to to is add a sheet and list out all of the names, then select the entire range and goto Insert-->Name-->Define. Name it something like "MyList". Then you can goto Data-->Validation and in the List Source box enter =MyList.

The nice thing about this method is that you can hide the sheet with the list on it and no one will be the wiser.

Hope that helps,

Smitty,
Thank you for your answer it was very helpful. I did end up using the 2nd sheet option(MyList). The question now is, is there a way to select more than one option and if not how can that work? Thank you.
