I did a quick search, but was unable to find anything regarding this specifically.

I have a drop-down menu with 10 options. I want people using this sheet to only be able to choose from those predetermined options. If I leave the cell unprotected, someone can type something other than those options in the cell, but it I protect the cell you can't even choose one of the the options.

Is there an easy way to protect the cell so that you can only choose from the options given?

What is =ROMAN(40) in Excel?
The Roman numeral for 40 is XL. Bill "MrExcel" Jelen's 40th book was called MrExcel XL.

Welcome to the MrExcel board!

In the Data Validation for the cell, look on the "Error Alert" tab and make sure the Style drop-down is set to Stop. That won't stop people pasting over the top but it should stop them entering other values.
