Drop-down menu problem

We have an excel file that we use to keep track of our DVDs. The first column is the DVD title, and we have a drop-down menu installed on it so we can easily jump from one dvd to the next. The problem is, it's stopped adding movies to the list, and we don't know why. Since this problem started, we've added about 200 new entries, and none of them appear on the dropdown menu. How can we fix this problem?

Thank you!

Hello mycroft714, welcome to the board.
What sort of 'dropdown menu' are you using?
Data Validation?, ComboBox? - or . . . (?)
I suspect it has to do with having reached your dropdown's input range about 200 rows ago.

The drop down menu is actually a filter that's sorting the column, that we've been using to easily jump around in the excel file. It cut off at adding data at a very random number, which is what through us off.

Are you filtering via some vba code, or is it being done manually?
(If you're using code, can you post it for us?)

Is it cutting off at the same number every time?

Yes, it is cutting off at 1039.

I think we have hit the limit for the filter; I believe we've just been using autofilter.

I've started trying to see if creating a "list" through Data Validation will accomplish the same goal. One drawback so far is that it does not alphabetize the list of entries as the filter did.

I don't think this is the case here, at least not at 1,039.
I just filtered some random data and had it show me 28,414 (filtered) rows.

Is there possibly any difference in how the data is getting entered lately?

There's been no change in how the data's been entered.

I noticed something while I was playing around with the document: when I sort the file by a different column (say, year it was produced), then the drop-down filter list for the title column shows every single movie that's been input. But when I have the computer sort the file by the title of the movie, the dropdown filter list only shows the first 1095 entries (I mistyped earlier, it cuts off at 1095).
