Hello everyone,
<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p> </o:p>
Would you please help me with Data entry protection?
My colleague is entering data into data base. Often we have duplicate documents with 2 or 3 possible duplicate identifiers: 1. Invoice Number. 2. Amount. 3. Job performed.
Is it possible to write formulas to protect such entries? I know that we can use “data validation”, but what formula to write I do not know…
Or is it possible to do it somehow differently?
Thank you,
<o:p> </o:p>
Dan

Can you sort left to right?
To sort left-to-right, use the Sort dialog box. Click Options. Choose "Sort left to right"
Try in the Allow - Custom - Formula dialog box of the Data Validation settings tab the following:

=COUNTIF($A$1:$A$10,A1)=1

assuming your range is A1:A10. You have to select the whole range before the data validation rule can be applied

Hello George,<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
I understand that your formula works for only one identifier, for example, Invoice number. <o:p></o:p>
<o:p> </o:p>
If I have a valid invoice with the duplicate invoice number and from a different vendor, or from the duplicate vendor with a different amount? <o:p></o:p>
<o:p> </o:p>
I need a formula for columns: A (invoice #), G (Job description), K (amount). Is it possible to have such a formula?<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
Thank you,<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
