Hi everyone.
I have to merge two identically laid out Excel spreadsheets, of 11 columns. One is about 4000 rows, the other about 7000. My problem is this - some of the rows exist in both spreadsheets, and I want to delete all the duplicate rows. First, how do I do this?
Second, some of the rows 'are' duplicates, but aren't actually identical. Let me expand on that...
The first column contains ships names, the other columns contain data about them.
There might, for example, be a row where the ship name is "Seariver Baytown", and also a row containing the same information, but with the name as "Sea River Baytown". Also, there may be the same data in two rows, but one person entered the data using decimal places for the numerical values, the other rounded to a whole number. How can I 'fuzzily' compare the rows to get an option to manually confirm whether two rows are - or aren't - the same cargo?
Thanks for any ideas,
Richard
