I have some graphs that use named ranges so they update automatically. I would like to create a new graph that graphs the difference of two named ranges. Can I do this without creating another column that explicitly calculates the difference?

Here is what I have now for one graph:
=SERIES(,'Full Summary.xls'!NAME1,'Full Summary.xls'!NAME2,1)

Here is what I want to do (which doesn't work):
=SERIES(,'Full Summary.xls'!NAME1,'Full Summary.xls'!NAME2-'Full Summary.xls'!NAME1,1)

(entering it with CTRL + SHIFT + ENTER doesn't work...)

Excel Facts

Why are there 1,048,576 rows in Excel?
The Excel team increased the size of the grid in 2007. There are 2^20 rows and 2^14 columns for a total of 17 billion cells.
I dont think you can input formula in the reference box for chart.
You will need column for that or if you dont want a column you can create a macro and assign it to chart so that when you click on the chart, it gets updated with the changed values.

Thanks for the reply. It seems like it would be such a useful feature, I'm surprised there isn't a better solution out there.

I actually found a pretty good solution.

You can define a new named range as

NAME1-NAME2 and then use that name in the SERIES function.
