This sounds to me like it should be easy, but the answer continues to elude me. I am hoping someone might be able to help me with this. Basically I need perform a rank function for column a, but only if the value in column b is the same. For the end goal, I can't just do a sort and rank the easy way. What I've started with is =Rank(A2,IF(B:B=B2,A:A)) But as you would notice it will rank the cell for the entire column rather than just cells that contain the same text in b.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
