I create a giant pivot table for accts receivable every month... It's rows are Customer, Business Unit, Comments, and Manager, and the result is the sum of the customer's balance w/that business unit. Our Collections people review this pivot table every month, and would like to edit the Comments section directly on the pivot table (w/o going back to the source data). However, when they edit a comment which is identical to another comment in the table (ex. "Adjusted payment terms" appears twice in the table), BOTH comments change. Is there some way to unlink the cells in the PT?

Hi,

Not that I am aware of.

I think you might be trying to take PT's beyond what can be expected from them.

Do you have anything in the data area of the PT or do you just have rows as you described.

It might be that the function Subtotals bight be more useful.

Having trouble think of something you can use. Sorry.

The data area has the Customer Balances - that's where it's summing.

Unfortunately I don't think subtotals will work - my boss want's this to be a one-click kinda thing because multiple users are accessing it. Ultimately he wants it in Access really, but I'm trying to get it done correctly in Excel first...
