Hi all,

Im using Excel 2003. I have two files one of which links to the other. The file im trying to update is 4MB and the file that im sourcing the link to is 15MB.

I've had to re-create the links as i've copied the file into another location. So when i go edit/links/change source Excel starts working, but it takes a really long time to re-create the links. In fact after a while it stops responding and i have to Ctrl/alt/delete to start over.

Im just wondering if anyone has any clues as to why Excel cant re-create the links and why i have to ctrl/alt/delete all the time. Is there something im missing or different that i can do to see how the links are being updated?

Cheers,

Hi

I don't know if you already do it like this, but make sure you have both workbooks open when you change the links - I find this speeds things up no end (and in some cases is the only way I seem to be able to update the links).

Best regards

Richard
