English Translation for Unique Text Value Count

A helpful prior posting provided the formula that helped me accomplish the count of a list of text values, and to find the number of just unique values. =SUMPRODUCT((C2:C14<>"")/COUNTIF(C2:C14,C2:C14&""))

This was great, but as an intermediate Excel user, I'd find it helpful if anyone could provide an verbal translation of what the formula is actually doing. I find that to be helpful in using adaptions of that same formula or operation in future worksheet situations. Anyone?

Thanks

Save Often
If you start asking yourself if now is a good time to save your Excel workbook, the answer is Yes
Okay, read the prior explanation and while I can't say that I completely understand the entire narrative, I do get the gist that we're generally talking about the principle that "the sum of the parts . . . equal the sum (count) of the whole".

A good solution, and again, generally I think I could apply it to different circumstances or situations.

Thanks!
