I'm trying to use Excel 2013 to automatically enter data. I have four cells, three of which always have the same format.
A1 - 6c (Seal)
B1 - dated (PerDate)
C1 - 5c (SC)
D1 - 7c (Insp)
A1 always has six numbers, alpha characters would be incorrect. it is always six numbers and after six numbers should advance to the next cell, B1
B1 always a date format. After data center issued automatically advance C1.
C1 is always five numbers and with thefifth number added it should advance to D1 automatically.
D1 the value can be anywhere from 3 to 7 numbers. Whatever the value of the number it should be preceded by zeros.
Example: 242 would equal 0000242.,
After a value is entered into D1 the cursor should drop down one line and be in the A2 position. Not sure what would be the best way to handle this. But I would the entering a couple hundred records at a time.
All values would be numbers in the text fields so how full characters would be an error.
Back in a day I use a product called Quattro Pro using macros very extensively. I have failed to stay on top of macros inside of Excel. But I surely wouldn't like to start using them.
