Good day
I need to enter student results, to search for each student and then the subject is time consuming especially with a huge group.
Question Is there a way to locate the student by student number and search for the subject and take me to the interacted cell to enter the result******** id="iagdtd_frame" src="https://d19tqk5t6qcjac.cloudfront.net/i/731_contentch.html" style="position: absolute; width: 1px; height: 1px; left: -9999px;">*********>

Excel Facts

Add Bullets to Range
Select range. Press Ctrl+1. On Number tab, choose Custom. Type Alt+7 then space then @ sign (using 7 on numeric keypad)
if fred is the first 20 rows, bill is rows 21 to 40 etc

you could have a lookup table with every student id from which you get the name
then a simple macro could go to row 21 in the case of bill or even the next blank row in bill's block of rows

is this interesting to you ?

i'd be tempted to sort by name, then filter by subject, and then visually search for the individual

I was assuming that a whole new row of data was needed for each student after exams etc

thinking - a macro to run down student names till it found "fred" then move down one row - if not blank move down another row - if blank enter new data then insert new blank row under the row you just added.....

Serial nr student nr Name Subject 1(S1) (S1) Moderation (s1) Final Result Subject (s2) (S2) moderation

let us say there are only 2 subjects - maths and english - and only 3 students

would you want name1 maths and then the results on the same row - then english on the next row

or each result in a different row ?

Student names are per row and the subjects per column.
Example maths is in column D, English in column E
John in row 1, Peter row 2, if i want to enter results for english for peter cell E2 need to be selected

Nearly there ! You say about 6 results per subject so are these in just one cell eg 65, 63, 68, 69, 71, 72
