Working with Excel 2003.

Creating a spreadsheet for percentages and pricing.

Cell D4 is input "127"
I have cell M4 to get 80% of D4. My input function is =SUM(D4)*0.8
The equation of M4 is 102. Which is correct answer for 80% of 127.

In cell N4 I need to use the 102 answer in M4 to be multiplied by $20.00. The answer I am getting is $2032.00 not $2040.00 which it should be.

What is wrong with the way I am set up in this spreadsheet.

Thank you and God bless,
Craig

Excel Facts

Round to nearest half hour?
Use =MROUND(A2,"0:30") to round to nearest half hour. Use =CEILING(A2,"0:30") to round to next half hour.
80% of 127 is not exactly 102.

You can round the result to 102 by using this formula in cell M4:

=ROUND(D4*0.8,0)

127*0.8 is 101.6, not 102

You probably have M4 formatted to 0 decimal places, so it appears to be rouned to 102.
But any formula referring to M4 sees the real value of 101.6
And 101.6*20 = 2032
