I am trying to do a Vlookup on a table from another sheet. The result of the finding is sometimes correct other times it is incorrect. I have sorted the table i am looking up and still get the same results.

The Value that I am looking up is on Sheet(data) Cell (A4). Looking up from Sheet(SEPT) Range(A1:C10) Looking in 3rd column and true.
Here is an example of what I am pulling.

<TABLE style="WIDTH: 132pt; BORDER-COLLAPSE: collapse" cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=0 width=176 border=0 x:str><COLGROUP><COL style="WIDTH: 64pt; mso-width-source: userset; mso-width-alt: 3108" width=85><COL style="WIDTH: 33pt; This is my formula i am using
=VLOOKUP(A4,'2011 SEPT'!$A$1:$C$10,3,TRUE)

Most of the answers match up but i get a few that are pulling wrong data. Ones that are missing pull a Random part from Column C. I have the first 1 of them pulling the result from the 1 above it. For instance Company G should pull "part gg" but it is pulling "part zz". Only 1 of these is doing it. How do i write the code for if what they are looking for is not found it places "0" as the result?

Thanks

Switch from:

=VLOOKUP(A4,'2011 SEPT'!$A$1:$C$10,3,TRUE)

to:

=VLOOKUP(A4,'2011 SEPT'!$A$1:$C$10,3,0)

where 0 means FALSE.

Thanks I also found the issue why it was pulling wrong data on the one. I was doing a lookup based on the "Company G" but from where I was looking it up it was listed as "Company G " had the extra space at the end therefor pulling the wrong data.

Thanks for your help much appreciated.

Even if A1:A10 sorted in ascending order and it's not numeric, you need a different formula than what you have.

I have it working 90% of the time. The issue that I am having is when it does not find the company name on the sheet it is looking up from it returns the error #N/A. How do i get it to return a "0". Can not do a calculate on the #N/A error.

Here is my code that is giving me the error

=VLOOKUP(A4,'2011 Sept'!$A$16:$B$43,2,0)

Looking up the value in A4 on the current sheet.
I am looking in the Sheet(Sept) and the Range of A16:B43
Returning the value in the 2nd column. 0 if false.

The problem is that the value in A4 is not in the Sept sheet thus giving me the error. How would i fix that so an error code does not come about?

Thanks

If you are on Excel 2007 or later...
Rich (BB code):
=IFERROR(VLOOKUP(A4,'2011 Sept'!$A$16:$B$43,2,0),0)

On all versions...
Rich (BB code):
=LOOKUP(9.99999999999999E+307,CHOOSE({1,2},0,
    VLOOKUP(A4,'2011 Sept'!$A$16:$B$43,2,0)))
