Getting an error message when trying to open excel 2000 files. They show .xls extensions. When attempting to open we get the text import wizard window saying 'the text wizard has determined that your data is delimited" We then go through the steps and the preview window is all foregin language.

So, we now can't view our excel files. Can anyone help?

Excel Facts

VLOOKUP to Left?
Use =VLOOKUP(A2,CHOOSE({1,2},$Z$1:$Z$99,$Y$1:$Y$99),2,False) to lookup Y values to left of Z values.
The text import wizard is for opening text files, not workbooks.

How do I get rid of the message and open the file? I click the file and the text wizard box opens. When I do what the wizard wants me to do the text is in some weird language. I've never had this happen. So, how do I read the file.

This is what I see. In the wizard preview area and after doing what it wants me to do. I'm frustrated.... thanks for any help

Just open the file in the normal fashion, assuming it's an Excel workbook and not some other kind of file that has had the extension changed.
